Copyleft Solutions is a group of companies focused on the use and development of free software. We are based in Norway and in Mexico, we are about 15 people, and we have been at this since 1998.

Who we are
Depending on how you want to look at it we are either a group of three companies (see Companies below), a group of about 15 people (see Employees below), or three teams of people (see What We Do).Our primary paradigm is the development and use of free software (see Technology), so much so that two of our companies have charters requiring us to develop free software exclusively.
Our vision is to establish ourselves in a position where we can as freely as possible develop and distribute free software systems in areas where there is a lack of good free alternatives, and to have the infrastructure to be able to maintain these systems as services where that makes sense.
The companies that comprise Copyleft Solutions are all owned by employees or former employees, with the exception of one minority owner in Mexico.

Companies
Copyleft Solutions is technically an umbrella brand for three companies operating together, sharing resources and people. These companies are as of Q3 2008::
- Copyleft Software AS, aka Copyleft Oslo, based in Norway.
- Copyleft S. de R.L. de C.V., aka Copyleft Mexico, based in Mexico.
- Copyleft Solutions AS, aka Copyleft Bergen, based in Norway.
History
Copyleft Solutions began in 1998 as two enkeltpersonsforetak working under a Copyleft brand in Oslo, Norway. On May 17th 2000, Copyleft Software AS was founded, and all business was moved into this new company. Between 1998 and 2005, we focused mainly on application development and system administration.On July 19th, 2004, Copyleft S. de R.L. de C.V. was founded in Mexico. The focus for Copyleft S. de R.L. de C.V. has always been web communication and application development.
On November 1st, 2004, Copyleft Solutions AS was founded in Bergen, Norway. This company focused mainly on hardware sales and system administration. In 2008 all the shares in Copyleft Solutions AS were bought by Copyleft Software AS, and focus has now shifted to application development.
Partners
In addition to our customers and our suppliers, we have also always cooperated closely with various other companies, often companies similar to ours, but with different areas of expertise. Some of our closest partners are:- Orgdot AS (N) - nearly half our application development projects have been done together with the good people of Orgdot.
- Teknograd AS (N) - we cooperate closely on sysadmin projects and also some development projects with them. They are extremely versatile and complement our competence in many areas.
- I-Productiva (MX) - these work closely with our web communications team to plan and implement shared projects.
- Nidelven IT Ltd (N) - our good friends at Nidelven IT have covered many bases that fall outside our own areas, such as Plone/Zope development.
